HISTORIC BACKGROUND
Nova Scotia coal has long played a part in the global economy - from fueling the Royal forges of France in the late 1600s to contributing to the driving power of twentieth century industry all across the world. The New Aberdeen Colliery in Glace Bay, familiarly known as No.2 - "The Big Producer" in the early 1900s, was later designated No. 20.
