BACKGROUND The Blue Jay - Cyanocitta cristata meaning “crested, blue chattering bird” - is a common sight in all the Atlantic provinces. The provincial bird of Prince Edward Island, here they perch on the twigs of a Red Oak, which happens to be the provincial tree.
